ASN: Advanced and Accurate? Study to Shed Light
Does ASN accuracy really matter?
Can’t we just assume that the vendor puts in the box what the ASN says in the box?
According to a study by Compliance Networks and Auburn University, an assumption of ASN accuracy may be risky. When problems arise, the implications reach from the DC all the way to the consumer.
After examining ASN audit data from multiple retailers over the period from 2006 to 2010, the study’s preliminary findings indicate that average ASN accuracy rates are below 95%.
To find out more about ASN accuracy rates and their implications, look for the full report in the coming months. Greg Holder, CEO, Compliance Networks, and David Barnard, VCF Supply Chain Consultant presented initial findings to retailers and vendors at a recent Vendor Compliance Federation conference. Dr. Bryan Gibson, Auburn University, will present the completed study at the Vendor Compliance Federation Fall Conference in November, 2010, in Phoenix, Arizona.
